DESCRIPTION:See the Vizyon Atistik exhibition entitled Haiti-Louisiana: Tides of Freedom throughout the month of June.\nThe exhibition “Haiti – Louisiana: Tides of Freedom\,” presented in French and English\, embarks on a captivating journey through history\, bringing to the forefront the intertwined narratives of Haiti and Louisiana. It serves as a significant commemoration of Haiti’s 220th anniversary of independence (January 1804 – January 2024)\, marking its debut in New Orleans\, Louisiana\, in partnership with the Nous Foundation and the Historic BK House & Gardens. This groundbreaking exhibition delves deep into the shared historical heritage of these regions\, with a particular focus on their relentless struggles for freedom and human rights. Through a diverse array of artworks\, it seeks to honor the legacy of Haiti’s independence and illuminate its profound influence\, notably through the 1811 slave revolt in Louisiana. By weaving together themes of freedom\, resilience\, and identity\, “Haiti – Louisiana: Tides of Freedom” encourages visitors to partake in a broader discourse on the intertwined legacies of resistance and the ongoing battle for equality and justice. This exhibition is curated by Max Jean-Louis and features Harry Abilhomme\, Patritia Brintle\, Alyn Defay\, Peter Nakhid\, and Nick-Edward Woolley. \n  \nGallery Hours\nThursday – Sunday: 1 – 6pm

DESCRIPTION:Join Haiti Cultural Exchange on Tuesday\, June 11th for Mizik Ayiti x TSQ Live 2024 featuring Paul Beubrun!\nGlobal powerhouse Paul Beaubrun will bring HCX into the heart of the Big Apple for our first ever performance in Times Square joined by Anie Alerte\, J Perry\, KOLO\, Johnbern Thomas\, Chico Boyer\, Keila Casasola Beaubrun\, Morgan Zwerlein\, and surprise guests!  \n  \n— \nPAUL BEAUBRUN \nPaul Beaubrun is a Haitian singer\, multi-instrumentalist\, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in Port-au-Prince\, Beaubrun is the son of the Grammy nominated band Boukman Eksperyans and the grandson of legendary Haitian comedian Languichatte. Paul has gained recognition in Haiti and internationally for his unique and captivating sound. Blending his exceptional guitar playing skills\, soulful vocals\, and innovative arrangements\, that draw on his rich cultural heritage\, he seamlessly weaves together elements of Haitian Creole\, French\, and English\, creating a musical tapestry that reflects the diverse influences that have shaped his artistic vision. \n A versatile and accomplished musician\, Paul collaborates and performs with a diverse array of renowned artists. Paul has been a touring member of the world-renowned band Arcade Fire since 2022\, joining them for their “WE” tour and performing on Saturday Night Live\, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon\, and global music festivals. \n  \n— \nMEMWA/EVOLISYON \nHaiti Cultural Exchange (HCX) is celebrating our milestone 15th year as a nonprofit organization throughout the month of June with a special anniversary series called Memwa/Evolisyon (Remembrance/Evolution). This theme represents the alive nature of culture—weaving and building forward with the same roots that seeded all we have and everything we will be tomorrow.   \nThe Memwa/Evolisyon series pays homage to our powerful community and the longtime artists who have helped ground HCX\, while uplifting new and exciting artists around New York City.
