SUMMARY:Ti Atis Second Saturdays: Printmaking & Storytelling with Nathalie Jean-Baptiste
DESCRIPTION:Haitian artist and storyteller Nathalie Jean-Baptiste leads this engaging children’s workshop combining storytelling\, live music\, and hands-on artmaking. The program begins with a reading of Trogon’s Song of Hope accompanied by live drumming. In the story\, we meet Trogon\, the national bird of Haiti and his new friends.\nThen\, take part in a simple block printing workshop inspired by the birds\, foliage\, and natural themes. Using various materials—styrofoam plates\, pencils\, and paint—children create their own prints while learning the basics of printmaking. She is the founder of an exclusive dining series centered on culture and storytelling\, a former Guggenheim Learning Through Art resident teaching artist in NYC public schools\, and the author of Trogon’s Song of Hope\, a children’s book about Haiti’s national bird\, the Hispaniolan Trogon. \n— \nAbout Ti Atis \nTi Atis returns to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum for a new season of interactive youth and family programming!
