SUMMARY:VIZYON ATISTIK | Sound\, Archive\, and Cyanotype | Workshop with Jennica Drice
DESCRIPTION:Artist Jennica Drice leads this hands-on session showing how sound can be made visible through cyanotype. Participants will create unique spectrogram images derived from Lomax’s 1936-37 recordings from Haiti using the techniques Drice used to create her own piece for the exhibition\, Legba Across.\nCyanotype is one of the earliest photographic printing processes\, using light and chemistry to produce striking Prussian blue images. \nNo prior experience needed. \nAll materials provided. \nRegister for the Workshop Here » \nRegistration includes a complimentary beverage & light refreshments.\nLimited capacity\, RSVP required. \nSunday\, November 8\, 2026\n3–5pm\nHaiti Cultural Exchange\n35 Lafayette Ave. Brooklyn\, NY \nThis event is part of the Vizyon Atistik public programming for Rasin San Bout | Roots Without End: Artists in Dialogue with Sounds of Haiti from the Alan Lomax Archive\, on view until November 15\, 2026. \n—\nAbout the Exhibition \nRasin San Bout | Roots Without End: Artists in Dialogue with Sounds of Haiti from the Alan Lomax Archive features works by contemporary Haitian artists responding to selections from the 1930s Haiti collection of the Alan Lomax Archive\, stewarded by the Association for Cultural Equity.  \nFrom textiles to film\, the artists selected evoke both personal and resonant responses to the recordings that most spoke to them — from lullabies to Rara\, from the sacred to the Konbit. The exhibition will feature curated pairings of recordings and artwork\, connecting their modes of communion and communication over time and place. \nLearn more about the exhibition and artists here»  \nJoin the artists & curators for other activations taking place as part of this exhibition \n—\nAbout The Artist \nJennica Drice | Website \nJennica Drice is a Brooklyn-based textile artist and first generation Haitian American\, raised in Port-au-Prince\, Haiti. Her practice explores how identity is carried\, altered\, and reconstructed across displacement\, informed by her own hyphenated experience between Haiti and the United States. Working primarily in blue through cyanotype and indigo\, her work draws from personal and communal histories to explore memory\, migration\, and cultural inheritance. \nShe has exhibited across New York City and teaches workshops in cyanotype and natural dyeing.
