On Thursday, January 11th, 2024, Haiti Cultural Exchange hosted it’s second Haiti X New York event of the year featuring a drumming workshop by Junior Racine Mapou and Markus Schwartz!
The night consisted of an Interactive demonstration, with audience participation, including rhythms of the “Tanbou Bas” – a family of circular, hand-held, frame drums. These styles of drumming have become increasingly rare in Haiti.

Audience members joined in for a first-hand experience.
